Bucks collect between 80K and 90K worth of recyclables in Green Week event

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Hundreds of people stopped by the BMO Harris Bradley Center Saturday morning, April 6th.  It wasn't for an early Bucks game, but an event to recycle old electronics.

"I wanted to get rid of my old computers and old TV sets that don't work anymore," Dennis Case said.

The event is part of the NBA's Green Week.  The Bucks partnered with DP Electronic Recycling.

"People are aware by now, how important it is to save our environment and keeping this type of stuff out of our landfills is a big part of that," DP Electronic Recycling Sales Manager Frank Perrotto said.

People dropped off everything from old televisions and computers to record players and refrigerators.  All of the items will be taken apart and the pieces will be recycled.

Helping the environment isn't the only incentive.  Fans got vouchers for the Bucks final game against the Denver Nuggets.

Organizers expect to collect more than 50 tons of electronics -- but ended up well exceeding that expectation, with 800 trucks dropping off between 80,000 and 90,000 worth of recyclables.
