Milwaukee Brewers' Ryan Braun awarded 2012 Silver Slugger

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Ryan Braun has to clear some space in his trophy case. Braun didn’t play in Saturday night’s game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he did take the field to accept two awards.  He was presented the Josh Gibson Legacy Award and the 2012 Silver Slugger.

Managers and coaches voted to give Braun the Silver Slugger after he led the National League with 41 home runs last season.

“He deserves it.  He’s a great all-around player, not just batting,” Brewers fan Carlos Saucedo said.

Braun’s manager isn’t surprised by his new accolades.

“The way he swings the bat, I’m not surprised if he wins that every hat every year,” Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke said.

Braun didn’t play for the second night in the row because of neck problems.  Roenicke says when he plays again will be a day-by-day decision.
