Fire crews battle fully engulfed garage fire in Glendale

GLENDALE (WITI) -- North Shore fire officials on Wednesday night, April 24th responded to a fully engulfed garage fire on Navajo Avenue in Glendale.

The call came in just before 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival,  fire crews found a heavily involved unattached garage with multiple exposures.  Due to the volume of fire and the close proximity to structures on multiple sides of the fire, the incident commander upgraded the fire to bring additional resources to the scene.

Fire crews operating at the scene were able to protect all of the exposures and quickly bring the fire under control.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries during while battling the blaze and was transported to a local hospital by a North Shore Fire/Rescue ambulance.  No additional civilian or public safety injuries were reported.

The damage to the garage, its contents, and the two vehicles inside, at the time of the fire is estimated at approximately $80,000.  There was also minor heat damage to two exposures.  There is no estimate on the cost of that damage at this time.

It appears that the fire began in one of the vehicles and then quickly spread to the garage. The exact cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
