Brewers edged by Padres, 2-1

SAN DIEGO (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Brewers' winning streak is over. The Crew was edged by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, April 24th in a pitcher's duel, 2-1.

The Padres were first to add a tally to the scoreboard when Carlos Quentin poked a home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the fifth, San Diego added one more -- and what would be considered the winning run.

The Brewers threatened to come back in the top of the ninth inning. Yuniesky Betancourt doubled to left to bring in Carlos Gomez. But a few moments later, Martin Maldanado was called out for being out of the batter's box. Apparently the ball Maldanado hit touched him in  in fair territory -- creating the last out of the game. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke took issue with the call -- but that did signal the end of the game.

The Brewers are back in action on Friday, April 26th when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers.
