McCune sentenced to 13 years in fatal stabbing case

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Daymeon McCune on Friday, April 26th to 13 years in prison plus another seven years of extended supervision.

McCune pleaded guilty on Monday, March 18th to second-degree reckless homicide in connection with the stabbing death of 52-year-old Brian Zurfluh. It was part of a plea deal — McCune originally faced a charge of first-degree reckless homicide.

The stabbing in this case happened on early on Saturday, December 22nd. Authorities received a 911 call regarding a stabbing within an apartment complex at Layton and Kirkwood in Cudahy.

Upon arrival, officers found Zurfluh with a significant stab wound to his back. Zurfluh was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Officials say around 2:11 a.m. on December 22nd, St. Francis police stopped Daymeon McCune, someone they say was a person of interest, and brought him in for questioning. Around 8:23 a.m. police initiated a homicide investigation, and McCune was arrested in connection with the homicide.
