Brewers blanked by Kershaw, Dodgers 2-0 to end west coast swing

LOS ANGELES (WITI) -- The first pitch of the game by Kyle Lohse turned out to be the losing pitch as Carl Crawford sent the ball deep over the center field wall for a solo home run giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers. In the 5th inning, Crawford would add another solo shot, this time to right field giving LA a 2-0 lead, which also turned out to be the final score.

The Brewers could not do much against the Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw who earned the win. At one point, Kershaw retired 18 straight Brewers batters. He pitched 8 shut out innings, allowing only 4 hits while striking out 12 and not walking a single hitter.

Lohse, who took the loss, pitched very well, despite the 2 mistakes to Crawford. He pitched 7 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 4.

For the Brewers, Carlos Gomez continued to hit well, going 1 for 3 in the game. Gomez has 21 hits in his last 42 at bats (.500).

Monday, the Brewers return to Miller Park to face NL Central rival Pittsburgh.
