Oceans of Fun staff at Milwaukee Co. Zoo introduce sea lion pup

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  The Oceans of Fun Seal/Sea Lion Show at the Milwaukee County Zoo has announced the birth of its newest member, a female California sea lion, born April 17th.

The pup, named Talise (Native American name meaning “beautiful waters”), was born to first-time mother Sonoma, and father Slick.  The pup weighed 17 pounds at birth.

Mom and baby are doing well now, but had a challenging beginning.

"From the very start with this pup we had 24 hour care on her. We still have 24 hour care around the clock on this pup because the mother wasn't 100% sure on how to nurture and how to nurse," says Ballmann.
