Families gather for annual Mother's Day breakfast in Wauwatosa

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- It was all about Mom in Wauwatosa on Sunday morning, May 12th as families gathered for the annual "Pancakes with Mom" breakfast -- put on by Wauwatosa Crimestoppers.

Hart Park's Muellner Building filled up Sunday morning with folks taking part in the 11th annual Mother's Day breakfast.

"The purpose of it is to celebrate moms and communities. Being a community-based organization, we really want to bring people together and find a reason to celebrate -- and what better reason than moms?" Taren Sartler with Wauwatosa Crimestoppers said.

"It's a lot of fun! We love the pancakes. They're delicious. There's lots of games for the kids, and we like our balloon a lot!" Elizabeth Fritsch said.

"I really love it here. It's exciting -- something to do with the kids and just get out for the day," Shaundra Lee said.

The event raised money to support the Wauwatosa Crimestoppers. In 2012, the event contributed $4,000.

"The money is incredibly important because Crimestoppers uses that money to pay out tipsters who help us arrest folks who have committed crimes in Wauwatosa," Don Semega with the Wauwatosa Police Department said.

On Sunday, this group was focused on helping others celebrate Mom.

"I cherish every Mother's Day, and I love saying 'Happy Mother's Day' to all the other moms in the world," Cindy Seemann said.

Wauwatosa Crimestoppers is a non-profit organization that gets all of its operating funds through donations and fundraisers.
