Mom recognizes graffiti, turns in son as suspected vandal

GREENDALE (WITI) -- A Greendale mother who saw graffiti at the village Community Center recognized it to be similar to tagging she saw in her own home. So she called police.

Greendale police arrested the woman's 14-year-old son on Friday, May 10th for criminal damage to property in connection with several tagging incidents throughout the village.

The suspect was released with a future court date in Children's Court. But that's not the end of the story.

After his release, new tagging appeared throughout the village. An investigation found the same person was tagging again -- and he was arrested a second time.

The total estimated value of the damage to property is $4,000.

"I'm glad that the mom turned him in and I thought that was a very good parenting role model for all parents to look at," Nicole Cassidy said.

Meanwhile, police are looking for an additional tagger, someone they call "Tempo." They say they believe this person has tagged in Greendale, Franklin, Greenfield and Milwaukee.

Anyone with information on this tagger is asked to call police.
