50-year-old Yvette Harris sentenced for Medicaid fraud, theft

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — 50-year-old Yvette Harris, the Milwaukee woman found guilty of one count of Medicaid fraud and one count of theft, was sentenced to 100 days in jail and ordered to pay restitution of $1,214 on Thursday, May 16th.

Harris was initially sentenced to one year in jail for medical assistance fraud and nine months for theft, however that sentence was stayed and Harris was placed on probation for 18 months on the first count and one year on the second.

According to the criminal complaint, Harris billed the Wisconsin Medicaid program between June 2010 and April 2011 for services she was not hired to provide.

The complaint indicates Harris billed the Wisconsin Medicaid program, claiming to have provided care to a child on 136 days for a total of $32,330.
