One injured following traffic accident near 29th & Glendale Ave.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a serious traffic accident that happened at North 29th Street and W. Glendale Avenue Thursday night, May 16th. The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m.

According to police, the motorist lost control while speeding, hit a tree and nearly crashed into a home.

"We heard this loud bang, so loud," Teresia Carpenter said.

She lives in the home behind the wreckage.  In her front yard, the car sat mangled.  The front end was smashed and the Cadillac was elevated onto a stair railing.

"That was so scary.  I had just brought my grandbabies in the house," Carpenter said.

She was outside moments before the crash.  They went inside to do homework when it got dark.  That homework was halted by the loud noise outside.

"Me and my grandbabies ran out to the door and looked at this trunk and this car about to come through the living room," she said.

Neighbors say the driver was pulled from the car.

"The man was laying there and it looked like his hip and leg were broken up," neighbor Sean Finney said. " It looked kind of crazy."

The driver was transported to Froedtert hospital where he was listed in critical condition due to severe injuries. Milwaukee police believe alcohol was a factor in this wreck.
