Stomach virus at Franklin school not related to food

FRANKLIN (WITI) -- Health officials say the gastroenteritis illnesses reported at Pleasant View Elementary School in Franklin on Thursday May 16th were not related to food.

The Franklin Health Department and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will continue to investigate these cases to determine the cause of these illnesses. Custodial staff has worked extra hours to clean the school and will continue to do so next week.

School will resume on Monday, May 20th for all students and staff.

Parents are urged to not send their child to school if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and occasionally low-grade fever.  Students and staff who have these symptoms cannot return to school until being symptom-free for 48 hours.
