Man in custody following standoff, short foot chase in Racine Co.

BURLINGTON (WITI) -- Adam Floyd was arrested following an incident Sunday night, May 26th and is being held at the Racine County Jail for disorderly conduct/ domestic abuse, unlawful use of telephone, intimidation of victims and harassment.

According to authorities, Racine County Communications Center received a call shortly after 10:30 p.m. regarding an ex-boyfriend barricaded in the basement of a home with a gun. According to police, four children, ages one to five were also in the home.

Still shaken up after this ordeal, Liza Eller didn't want to show her face to FOX6 News on camera. She accuses Floyd, her ex-boyfriend of three-and-a-half year, of harassing her family. To make Floyd stop, Eller made up a story so Floyd could come to her home, hoping authorities would arrest him. Instead, when Floyd got to the home, Eller's plan went awry.

Neighbors say they were scared themselves -- and more scared for the children inside.

"We could hear screaming over there and my husband came out to see what was going on and they told  on him to get in the house and they had rifles and  they said get into the basement or in the center room in the house.," said Jackie Miller, a concerned neighbor.

Multiple squads responded to the scene. Racine County SWAT and Racine County Crisis Negotiations Team also responded. After a perimeter was established, the suspect was caught hiding behind a neighbor's house, and was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Eller told FOX6 News, now that Floyd is in custody, she's simply relieved -- and glad it's all over.

There were no injuries to any of the children.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Office had been to the home several times for threatening phone call complaints.

Floyd is being held at the Racine County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, unlawful use of a telephone, intimidation of victims, and harassment. He's also being held on various warrants and holds.
