Two people hurt after car pursued by police crashes into tree

SHOREWOOD (WITI) -- Two people were hurt after a car that was pursued by Shorewood police slammed into a tree early Sunday morning, June 2nd.

Shorewood police attempted to pull the car over for speeding as it was headed eastbound on Capitol Dr. shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. But the person driving the car did not stop. Instead, the car crashed into a tree at Lake Dr. and Palisades.

There were three people in the car. Two were taken to Froedtert Hospital. The third refused treatment.

After being released from the hospital, the driver of the car was charged with OWI causing injury and fleeing.
