Brewers bats arrive late, but in time to beat the Athletics

MILWAUKEE (WITI)-- Two late inning rallies got the Brewers past the Oakland A's Tuesday night, 4-3 in 10 innings.

Down 3-0 in the 8th inning, with only 4 hits, the Brewers bats came alive. Rickie Weeks, in for Scooter Gennett as part of a double switch, led off the inning with a single. Nori Aoki followed with a single putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Jean Segura then lined a ball down the right field line scoring both Weeks and Aoki. He ended up with a triple. Ryan Braun grounded out weekly to 3rd keeping Segura there momentarily. That's because Aramis Ramirez broke his bat and blooped one to center that fell for a base hit scoring Segura and tying the game at 3.

It stayed that way until the 10th inning when Yuniesky Betancourt doubled to deep right center field and Carlos Gomez scored all the way from first sliding across the plate with the winning run.

The Brewers were trailing before they even came to the plate. Yoenis Cespedes hit a 2 run home run off of Brewers starter Kyle Lohse in the top of the 1st inning.

In the 6th, Cespedes homered again, a solo shot giving the A's a 3-0 lead.

The rubber match is Wednesday afternoon at Miller Park.
