24-year-old woman shot, injured near Howell & Layton

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment building located on S. Howell Ave. near Layton Ave. Wednesday night, June 5th.

According to police, a 24-year-old female resident sustained a gunshot wound to her right cheek by her former boyfriend.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The 26-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. He did not live there.

No additional details have been released and detectives continue to investigate.
