RACINE (WITI) — A Racine woman faces charges for allegedly keeping her child home from elementary school for most of the past year.

The 37-year-old woman is charged with 17 counts of failing to send her child to class.

Each charge represents five truancies — meaning the child was truant for at least 85 days — which is nearly half of the school year.
