Late inning home run dooms Brewers in Miami

MIAMI (WITI)--- Jim Henderson had just come off the disabled list and hadn't given up a run in his previous 8 outings. But on Tuesday night in Miami, one pitch welcomed him back to action in a rude way. Giancarlo Stanton blasted a 2 run home run in the 8th inning, giving the Florida Marlins a 5-4 win.

Wily Peralta started for the Brewers. His only trouble came in the 2nd inning when the Marlins scored 3 runs, 2 of them on a Derek Dietrich home run. After that he settled down and kept the Brewers in the game going 6 innings, allowing only the 3 runs from the 2nd inning.

Offensively, the Brewers scratched their way back into the game. Jonathan Lucroy's sacrifice fly gave the Brewers their first run in the 4th inning. In the 6th, a fielder's choice by Aramis Ramirez brought in another run, cutting the Marlins' lead to 3-2. In the 7th, after a Rickie Weeks walk, Yuniesky Betancourt tripled to right scoring Weeks to tie the game at 3. Pinch hitter Scooter Gennett then used the suicide squeeze to give the Brewers the lead at 4-3.

After the Stanton home run, the Brewers were retired in order, snapping their 4 game win streak. Wednesday, they'll finish the series in Miami before going to Cincinnati on Friday.
