Man struck, killed by freight train in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) — Mount Pleasant police say a man was struck and killed by a freight train near Old Spring St. on Wednesday, June 12th.

Officials say the accident happened just before noon about 200 yards south of the street in Mount Pleasant. The train had been southbound at the time.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Racine County Medical Examiner’s Office. His identity is not being released at this time.

During the initial investigation of this death, the train had blocked several roadways including Spring St. and Old Spring St. The road traffic had to be rerouted.
