Oshkosh man arrested for fleeing with young child

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WITI) -- Officials in Winnebago County arrested an Oshkosh man on Saturday, June 15th after he allegedly fled with his 10-month-old child.

A State Trooper located Barrington Daniel's 2005 Lexus SUV just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and a chase ensued -- reaching speeds of up to 90 miles-per-hour.

Due to concerns regarding the safety of the child, officials terminated the pursuit.

The State Trooper kept vehicle in sight as it returned to traveling at the legal speed limit. At 8:05 pm the driver came to a railroad crossing with gates down and a moving train on East Lone Elm.

Officials say the driver went through the first gate and turned parallel with the tracks driving along side of the train and became stuck in the ditch.

Officials say multiple verbal commands to exit vehicle were ignored by the driver. Officials say the subject after 30 minutes exited the car with the baby.

There were no injuries. The baby's mother was notified and came to the scene to pick up the child.

Daniel was arrested for charges of felony eluding an officer and reckless endangerment.
