Driver softball game raises over $3K for Feeding America

APPLETON (WITI) -- Donald Driver’s sold out Sixth Annual Charity Softball Game and Home Run Derby on Sunday raised $3,200 for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

For every home run hit in the Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton during the Home Run Derby on June 16, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans donated $200 to Feeding America.

Together with the Donald Driver Foundation, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans presented a check for $3,200 to Feeding America before the softball game, enough money to provide 16,000 meals to children, families, seniors and individuals struggling with hunger in eastern Wisconsin.

“Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is proud to be a partner of Donald Driver’s Charity Softball Game,” said Bonnie Bellehumeur, president of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “On behalf of the many Wisconsin families that rely on our food bank for one of life’s most basic necessities, food, thank you for your generosity.”

As the state’s largest food bank, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin provides food to 330,000 people every year, 105,000 of whom are children. For every dollar donated to Feeding America, we can provide five meals to someone struggling with hunger. Thank you for providing hope to Wisconsin’s hungry.
