Neighbors say they saw a drug bust in Oak Creek this weekend

OAK CREEK (WITI) -- Police remain tight-lipped about it, but those living in an Oak Creek neighborhood swear they saw a drug bust this weekend -- saying police were at a home all day, and eventually carried out what appeared to be marijuana plants.

It happened at a home located at the corner of Hope and Steeple Chase.

"My boys said something. I was out in the yard and they said 'the police are over,'" a man who didn't want to be identified told FOX6 News.

That neighbor says Oak Creek police arrived at the home early Sunday morning.

"I assumed they're waiting for someone to come home -- a stakeout or a search warrant is what I thought," the man said.

The man says police remained outside throughout the afternoon. Then, around dinner time, the man says police went in.

"As more showed up, they went in and saw blinds go up -- like they were going through rooms. They'd open blinds clearing a room probably," the man said.

FOX6 spoke with Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards, who said police were at the home, but only said they were there for a welfare check. Edwards said he could not comment further because the investigation is ongoing.

Neighbors say when police emerged from the home, their hands were full.

"Then we saw many plants come out...four feet high," a neighbor told FOX6 News.

Neighbors say over the past five years, they have seen police at the home about 10 times.
