Rule regarding elected officials and ads sent back to committee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A rule that would bar any elected official from appearing in any Milwaukee County taxpayer paid ad in person, or using their voice hasn't made it past the Milwaukee County Board yet.

On Thursday, June 20th, the County Board sent the measure back to committee to be revised.

Last week, Supervisor Patricia Jursik introduced the rule.

It came in response to some ads that were created by Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.

So far this year, Clarke has spent nearly $19,000 on ads that tell listeners "calling 911 isn't the best option," and tells them to be "ruthless" on attackers.

There is no word yet on when the rule will be brought up again in committee.
