Milwaukee police investigate two separate shooting incidents

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred late Friday night, June 21st and early Saturday morning, June 22nd.

The first shooting incident occurred near 81st and Hampton.  According to officials, two Milwaukee men were walking in the 8100 block of W. Hampton Avenue when they were approached by two male subjects who attempted to rob them. One of the subjects was armed with a handgun.

Officials say the victims fled across the street when they heard gunshots. One of the two victims, a 42-year-old man, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The incident remains under investigation.

The second shooting occurred near 27th and Burleigh shortly after midnight.

According to police, four men were traveling in a vehicle in the area of N. 25th and W. Burleigh when shots rang out. According to officials, a bullet entered the vehicle and struck a 16-year-old passenger.

While fleeing the area of the shots, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed near 27th and Hopkins.

The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
