71-year-old Sheboygan wind surfer pulled from Lake Winnebago

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (WITI) -- Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials say the body of a missing wind surfer was recovered on Saturday evening, June 29th.

A 911 caller reported a wind surfing rig washed up on shore around 4:30 Saturday evening, and that caller said personnel from the windsurfing company were headed out onto the lake to look for the missing wind surfer.

Additionally, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office was called in, along with the Dive Team and Coast Guard.

The body of the missing surfer was recovered shortly after 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

The body is that of a 71-year-old Sheboygan man. His name has not yet been released.

The man's body was recovered about 300 yards off the shore. Officials say he was not wearing a life jacket.
