East Tosa Gran Prix marks end of "Tour of America's Dairyland"

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Bicyclists lined the streets of Wauwatosa Sunday morning, June 30th during the first-ever East Tosa Gran Prix.

The race marked the end of the 11-day "Tour of America's Dairyland" cycling event, which involves communities throughout Wisconsin.

Race Coordinator Ed Haydin said the event featured five different levels of competition, explaining that it involved a course measuring .6 miles, which professional riders navigated roughly 90 times in 90 minutes.

Haydin said he hopes the event in Wauwatosa was just the first of many to come.

"As this becomes successful, we’re gonna keep it here. We’re gonna really make it something that people come from all over the country for," Haydin said.

The "Tour of America's Dairyland" is billed as the country's largest competitive cycling race.
