MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A body was discovered in Washington Park near 44th and Lloyd around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5th.

Detectives responded to a call of an unresponsive, elderly, white male located in the lagoon near the shoreline.

Sarah McCants was in the park when authorities pulled the body from the water.

"I was pretty scared, like oh, a dead body. Who wants to see that? Someone die," said McCants. "It's pretty weird. I never seen dead people around my community."

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, as well as several other departments, responded to the scene. The ME took the body just before 5:30 p.m.

Shortly after the body was removed, the area was opened back up to the public.
