Police investigate several shootings within hours



MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating several shootings that happened late Thursday, July 4th and early Friday, July 5th.

The first happened near 49th and Hampton around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police say three people were shot. Police say when they got on scene, they located two victims; a third was located at a nearby hospital. Officials say all of the victims have non-life threatening injuries. Investigating officers say all three victims have conflicting accounts of what happened and have been uncooperative. There are no suspects in custody at this time.

Shortly after midnight on Friday, July 5th, officers responded to shots fired near 9th and Chambers in Milwaukee. A 20-year-old man was shot once in the back. His injuries are considered non-life threatening. There are no suspects in custody in this case.



Just before 1 a.m. Friday, police were also called to the scene of a shooting in the downtown area. This time, the investigation centered at Michigan and Broadway. Officers say an 18-year-old and 17-year-old were shot -- one in the leg and the other in the stomach. Both are expected to be okay.
