Segura Gomez All-Stars, Crew beat Mets 7-6

MILWAUKEE -- It's been a frustrating season for the Milwaukee Brewers, but on Saturday, they won on and off the field.
Jean Segura and Carlos Gomez were named National League All-Star reserves, and the Brewers beat the N.Y. Mets, 7-6 in a nationally-televised game on Fox.

Yovani Gallardo scattered 4 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while adding 2 hits and a pair of runs to lead the hosts. He also had a key sacrifice bunt while beating good friend and former Brewers teammate Shaun Marcum. Jonathan Lucroy hit his 9th homer.

Before the game, Segura and Gomez became the first shortstop and center fielder from the Brewers to make the All-Star team in the same season. The two have combined for the 2nd most hits in the league.

Five-time All-Star Ryan Braun won't be making the trip to Citi Field in New York for the Tuesday July 16th game on Fox, but he took swings in the cage before Saturday's game, and seems to be closer than ever to returning from the thumb injury which has sidelined him since June 14th.

The Crew and the Mets play the rubber game of their three game series, Sunday afternoon at 1:10.
