Storms expected overnight, and into first part of work week

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It was a hot and sticky Sunday, July 7th, with a high for the day at 88 degrees. FOX6 Meteorologist Vince Condella says we were able to reach 90 degrees on Sunday -- the first time this summer we've done so. The work week begins with temperatures in the high 80s, and a chance of storms for the first half of the week.

Condella said Sunday night was expected to be mostly dry -- with a slight chance of showers and storms coming after midnight.

FOX6 Meteorologist Brittney Sager says the weather gets more active as we head into the work week, with several chances for thunderstorms Monday, Tuesday and a slight chance Wednesday morning.

Condella said Sunday night that these showers and thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rain, but that nothing severe was expected.

As of right now, the rest of the work week and the early part of the weekend looks to be dry and less muggy, as a high pressure system heads our way from southern Canada -- but obviously, because we are so far out, that could change.

Sager says the Canadian high pressure system should bring more seasonable temperatures and lower humidity as we end the work week.

Sunday evening: A few scattered showers possible. Mostly cloudy and muggy. Temperatures in the 80s, dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s. Wind: SW-S 5-10 mph

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy and muggy. Showers and t-storms moving in after Midnight. Low around 72°. Dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s. Wind: SW 5-10 mph

Monday: Mostly cloudy and muggy. Periods of showers and t-storms. (one area of storms possible before 10 a.m., then another area moving in after 2 p.m.) High: 86°. Dewpoint: 70°. Wind: SW-S 5-10 mph

Monday Night: Periods of showers and t-storms. Continued muggy. Low: 72°. Dewpoint in the mid to upper 60s. Light wind.
