(CNN) — Twinkies are set to make their highly anticipated return in one week (Monday, July 15th) — but not before stirring up controversy among the spongy cake lovers.

The Twinkies will be frozen before shipping in an effort to give them a longer shelf life.

A spokesperson for the company says the change will have no impact on the quality of taste.

Not all Twinkies retailers will receive the product frozen. Companies have the option to choose whether they want their Twinkies frozen or not.
