Vehicle strikes gas pump at Marathon Gas Station, catches fire

CALEDONIA (WITI) — Caledonia police are investigating vehicle accident that resulted in a fire at the Marathon Gas Station located on Mile Road in the Village of Caledonia Tuesday, July 9th.

According to officials, the motorist was traveling northbound on N. Main Street near 3 Mile Road when the vehicle struck and crossed over the center median, traveled across 3 Mile Road before traveling into the gas station lot — where they struck a canopy support post and gas pump.

Following the crash, the vehicle caught on fire at the gas pump.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation reveals that the driver crashed as a result of a medical condition. Police say the driver fainted due to dehydration, hot weather and humidity.

The accident is currently under investigation and the cause has yet to be determined.
