Sheboygan police seeking owner of dog that bit woman

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Sheboygan police are requesting the owner of a tan and white pitbull (or similar breed) that bit a woman on Tuesday, July 9th in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue contact police.

According to officials, the woman was bit on the arm after kneeling down to greet the dog, which as on a leash. She described the bite as playful.

Police need to contact the owner because state law requires that any dog which bites a person be observed for a period of ten days to verify that animal does not exhibit signs of rabies.

Police say without an examination of the dog, the woman may need to undergo rabies treatment.
