Brewers end first half with a win in Arizona

PHOENIX (WITI)--- The unofficial first half of the Milwaukee Brewers season ended with a rare road win Sunday as they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1.

Singles were the key to the Brewers first few runs as they began the game with 4 consecutive singles. Carlos Gomez drove in 2 with his 1st inning single. Martin Maldonado knocked in the Brewers 3rd run on a fielder's choice giving Milwaukee a 3-0 lead before Arizona batted.

Logan Schafer had a big game for the Brewers going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. After scoring a run in the 1st inning, his sacrifice bunt in the 2nd inning scored another, making it 4-0 Brewers. In the 5th, he hit a solo home run to extend the Brewers lead to 5-0.

On the mound, Wily Peralta continued to impress. He pitched 7 innings, allowing only a run while striking out 8.

The Brewers are 38-56 at the All Star break.
