MPD District 7 warning residents about increase in burglaries

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police in District 7 are warning residents of an increase in burglaries occurring in several areas within the district.

Police say there has been an increase in the following burglaries in the following areas:

  • Residential burglaries: Between N. 85th to N. 92nd Street, from W. Ruby Ave. to W. Hope Ave. between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Residential burglaries: Between N. 41st Street to N. 51st Street, from W. Fiebrantz Ave. to W. Marion Ave. between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 9:40 p.m.
  • Garage burglaries: Between N. 41st Street to N. 51st Street from W. Fiebrantz Ave. to W. Marion Ave. between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Residential and garage burglaries: Between N. 39th Street to N. 44th Street from W. Chambers Street to W. Concordia Ave. between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Police say many of these incidents involve suspects accessing homes through open and/or unlocked doors and windows — even while residents are home cutting the grass or in their backyards.

Police encourage making sure doors and windows are locked at all times when practical.
