Snooki to Jersey community: 'Grow up'

(CNN) -- Do not try to ban Snooki. According to NJ.com, the reality star is peeved at the residents of the Jersey Shore community of Pelican Island. Residents there are still grappling with being displaced because of Hurricane Sandy and reportedly are not welcoming the filming of MTV's "Snooki & JWoww" with open arms.

Locals are complaining that the show "will bring traffic and unwelcomed visitors as they try to rebuild from the storm," according to the site.

Snooki, who is also known by her legal name Nicole Polizzi, used social media to express her displeasure.

"Unable how adults are trying to ban my son, fiancé and I from enjoying our summer at the shore," she posted on Instagram with a screen grab of an article about residents meeting to discuss the issue of her show. "Grow up, get over yourself and move on."

It's not the first time New Jersey residents have had an issue with the pint-sized star whose fame came about from antics on the hit MTV show "Jersey Shore" included a high profile arrest in 2010 for alleged disorderly conduct.

But those days are far behind her now as she is now an engaged mother of a young son. And as such she had this further message for the townspeople: "This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There's much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood."
