Waukesha fire chief accused of harassing employee

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Jesse Alba, the fire chief of the City of Waukesha, is accused of using his position to try to extinguish a burning love. This, after the results of a months-long investigation into Alba were released on Wednesday, July 31st.

According to the charges, Alba began having marital problems in late 2012. Testimony reveals he confided in two female colleagues; with one, feelings grew deeper.

During a telephone conversation with the employee in March, Alba allegedly told the woman he loved her and that he could smell her perfume at the fire station -- even when she wasn't there. The co-worker never indicated she felt the same way and eventually told Human Resources.

With his marriage falling apart, Alba allegedly said his job was all he had -- and if he was hired as fire chief, the employee would have to quit.

Alba and his attorney declined to comment on the charges. They say there are "credibility issues" with the woman and other witnesses in this case.

The Police and Fire Commission will ultimately decide Alba's fate. The group has not yet scheduled a formal hearing, but the mayor has asked the PFC to put Alba on administrative leave.
