Lakefront road closures August 10th & 11th for USA Triathlon

MILWAUKEE (WITI) – Thousands of athletes from across the country will make their way down to Milwaukee’s lakefront this weekend for the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. That also means there will be some big road closures Saturday, August 10th, and Sunday, August 11th.

Approximately 4,500 triathletes are expected to take part - in addition to the thousands of spectators - making this one of the biggest races held in the city.

“It’s a spectacular venue. It's really beautiful,” said Jim Shelden from Atlanta, Georgia.

“It's definitely exciting. There's a lot of energy because there are so many triathletes racing,” said Stephanie Ewert from Washington, D.C.

The course itself will take triathletes on a swim through the Lakeshore State Park inlet, a bike ride down I-794 and the Hoan Bridge to Cudahy, and a run up Lincoln Memorial Drive.
