Veteran MPD sergeant arrested for sexual assault, stalking

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say an MPD sergeant was arrested on Wednesday, August 7th following an internal investigation.
Sergeant Alex Lopez was taken into custody and is being held in the Waukesha County Jail.
Lopez was arrested for sexual assault and stalking -- stemming from a complaint made by a woman with whom Sgt. Lopez had a past relationship, according to police.
Lopez has been a member of the force for 16 years, and is assigned to District 2.
Lopez has been suspended while the investigation continues.
Charges have been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
