HARTFORD (WITI) -- A candlelight walk was held in Hartford on Wednesday evening, August 14th to remember 19-year-old Jessie Blodgett. Blodgett's father describes the ceremony as a chance for the community to heal.
Family, friends and people who have never met Blodgett listened to music in a Hartford park. It was Blodgett's voice in the recording that played through the speakers.
Blodgett's music was forever silenced on July 15th in an act of murder. Investigators said her classmate, 19-year-old Daniel Bartelt, snuck into her home, tied her up and strangled her. Bartelt is accused of causing Blodgett's death as well as another attack July 12th.
Police say following Blodgett's murder, Bartelt actually attended a vigil for Jessie.
On Wednesday evening, Blodgett's father took a moment to thank those who attended the walk.
