Police investigate fatal traffic accident in Town of Forest

FOND DU LAC CO. (WITI) -- A 53-year-old Fond du Lac woman died Wednesday morning, August 14th as the result of a traffic accident on Hwy. 23, east of 7 Hills Road in the Town of Forest. The 53-year-old woman has been identified as Kathleen Fee.

According to officials, The Fond du Lac County 911 Center received a call regarding a crash around 5:31 a.m. Callers also reported seeing a red Chevrolet Cavalier passing multiple vehicles.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a westbound vehicle operated by a 51-year-old woman from Plymouth was actively passing a number of vehicles.

As a result, Kathleen Fee, who was traveling eastbound, took evasive action, swerving to the right onto the shoulder to avoid the westbound vehicle.

Fee then lost control of her vehicle, traveled across the highway and was struck by a westbound vehicle operated by a 41-year-old St. Cloud man.

According to officials, Fee was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The 41-year-old St. Cloud man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The 51-year-old woman driving the red Chevrolet Cavalier, which was passing multiple vehicles while heading westbound, is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
