HollenWolff creates world-class cufflinks for Harley-Davidson

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee-based HollenWolff wants to change the way you view cufflinks.

"People think cufflinks, they think tuxedos and they think you maybe wear those once or twice in your life and there's something different happening with men's fashion; you can be more distinctive and you can be more unusual without wearing a $3,000 suit," said HollenWolff Marketing Director Joe Locher.

Hollenwolff cufflinks celebrate Harley-Davidson's 110th Anniversary

The cufflinks are unique in that they use ball bearings to open and close. The design was first patented in the 1920s. Now, HollenWolff believes it has super-charged that design.

"The fact we're taking a product and adding a lot of ingenuity to it, making it better than the functionality of it before and that's the same type of theory Harley-Davidson has in its lineage of improving the motorcycle," said HollenWolff Managing Director Kyle Stoehr.

Since HollenWolff sees a little bit of Harley-Davidson in its approach to men's fashion, it only made sense to create a limited edition cufflink for Harley-Davidson's 110th Anniversary Celebration. The cufflinks even come in black leather packaging.

"You may not be able to ride into work wearing your suit. You can still take a piece of Harley-Davidson into the boardroom with you," said Stoehr.

HollenWolff says it's a partnership between two companies whose products embody Milwaukee's past and present.

"Where else would something like this come from? You wouldn't have these made in Miami. This is a natural, they feel like they come from here," said Locher.

HollenWolff will make the Harley-Davidson cufflinks through the end of the year. They are a luxury item -- a pair costs about $700. They're available at the House of Harley in Greenfield -- and will soon be available online as well.
