Two arrested after fight breaks out at Racine Co. Fair Grounds

UNION GROVE (WITI) -- Two people were arrested after a large fight broke out at a Mexican Rodeo being held at the Racine County Fair Grounds on Saturday evening, August 17th.

Emergency crews first got a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. The caller stated that there were 25 private security guards at the event. It wasn't clear by the call how many people were fighting and whether there any weapons being used. But the caller told the dispatcher he could hear security yelling for people to stop resisting.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded and requested assistance from Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Sturtevant Police Department, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

When police arrived, they found the fighting had stopped.

A preliminary investigation found that the security staff was breaking up a fight and escorting the people involved off the property. During this time some of the patrons interfered and assaulted security staff.

While law enforcement was there another argument/fight broke out between four to six patrons and they were escorted off the grounds and told to leave without incident.
