Cards stacked against Brewers in 8-6 loss

MILWAUKEE -- The St. Louis Cardinals jumped out to a 7-0 lead and hung on to beat the Brewers in the rubber match of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon at Miller Park.
Tom Gorzelanny allowed 7 runs in just 3 2/3rds innings.
The host battled back to within 2; thanks in part to a 3-run homer of the bat of Aramis Ramirez.
But they stranded 14 runners to a St. Louis team that is 6-1 at Miller Park this season, 10-3 overall.
After the game, Milwaukee called up outfielder Caleb Gindl; they returned infielder/outfielder Sean Halton and reliever Donovan Hand to Class AAA Nashville.
Ron Roenicke's men open a road trip in Cincinnati on Friday.
