G.E. employees help clean up schools during "Service Day"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Schools in the Milwaukee area got a little tender loving care during G.E.'s "Service Day."

2,800 volunteers took the day off to spruce up 20 schools and non-profit organizations.

It is the largest G.E. community service day so far!

The group of volunteers took their efforts to La Casa de Esperanza in Waukesha.

For six hours, volunteers got the place ready for the upcoming school year.

"It's really, really amazing. I was speechless when I came in to see the different projects they were doing. From bringing diapers to our kids in daycare, painting murals in every classroom and also in the staircase so when people come in they can actually see the beauty and get excited about coming to school," La Casa de Esperanza Board Member Sandra Dempsey said.

G.E. volunteers work on more than 7,400 projects a year in 55 countries.
