Man whose family owns Glory Daaze bar faces sexual assault allegations

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police have called Glory Daaze bar at 42nd and Burleigh practically a haven for violence and criminal activity. In the last year, it has had more than 25 calls for service, and has been linked to reports of homicide, shots fired and armed robbery. This fall, the bar will close for a suspension that will last several weeks. And now, a man whose family owns the bar is facing sexual assault allegations.

Tina Jewell's family owns Glory Daaze. Her 48-year-old brother is now facing felony charges for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl in a room above the bar.

"It's all a lie, it's fabricated," Tina Jewell told FOX6 News.

Harold Jewell appeared in court on Wednesday, August 21st.

Police say he met the victim when she tried to get into Glory Daaze with a fake ID back in June, but was turned away.

A criminal complaint says after exchanging texts on August 6th, Jewell picked up the girl at her home and took her to the bar.

The girl says she had two drinks and spent the night upstairs. She says the next morning, Jewell wanted to have sex with her. She said "no," but said she eventually did it because "she felt scared not to."

Afterwards, she says Jewell accused her of "stealing an expensive ring," and then hit her with a two-by-four.

The girl says she escaped by jumping off an upper balcony in the back, and running to a nearby restaurant for help.

Jewell was found guilty of battery in the past. If found guilty with these latest charges, he faces up to 46 years in prison.
