Man crafting mini motorcycles for Harley-Davidson 110th

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- With the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebration around the corner, many are preparing for a big party, with plenty of big bikes! "Scotty" with American Minicycles, Inc. is getting in on the Harley fun, crafting miniature motorcycles!

On Wednesday, August 21st, one of Scotty's "minicycles" arrived at Hal's Harley-Davidson, as the New Berlin dealership received its newest temporary resident.

"I really enjoy building them, but it's fun to go to events and display them, do the promotions end of it. That's more what I'm geared towards," Scotty said.

Scotty says he is geared up for the big 110th anniversary celebration. So much so, in fact, that his latest creation pays homage to one of the celebration's headliners.

"I'm a big Kid Rock fan and I just thought with Kid Rock collaborating with Harley for the celebration, I thought it'd be really cool to do a bike in honor of Kid Rock, and Harley celebrating 110 years," Scotty said.

Scotty says he has written Kid Rock a letter, in the hopes that the performer will visit the bike at Hal's, where plenty of preparations are already being put into place.

"We wanna have the biggest party ever," Carrie Schmidt with Hal's Harley-Davidson said.

Schmidt says some 65 vendors are already arriving, and that the party will eventually occupy nine acres, including two neighboring properties.

"Everybody is excited, and nervous -- a little stressed, but once the party starts, everybody cools down and has some fun," Schmidt said.

Meanwhile, Scotty hopes to help by bringing his bikes.

"Just to show them and display them...contribute to the celebration. It's my passion," Scotty said.

Scotty says he has already made about 100 of the miniature bikes, adding that they cost between $3,000 and $3,500. These bikes come with a remote control to ensure the safety of children.
