"Welcome home" sign is a hot collector's item for Harley 110th

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee will be filled with bikes as the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebration that kicks off next week -- and dealerships are gearing up! There are now signs all over Milwaukee-area highways and inside dealerships, alerting visitors to the must-see locations for the 110th celebration, and a Brown Deer company is responsible for making them.

TAPCO, through a partnership with the Wisconsin DOT created dozens of signs that will guide visitors to Milwaukee-area Harley dealerships, the Harley-Davidson Museum, Harley's world headquarters, and more.

"Any spot that is off of 94 or 43, there will be signs that guide the motorists to the right spots," TAPCO VP of Sales, Andy Bergholz said.

Dealerships hope the signs will help visitors find them.

"We have signs all along 43, guiding them up this way," Todd Berlin, a Suburban Motors sales manager said.

Another sign is already a hot collector's item! The "welcome signs" are being given away for free at Harley dealerships. They're in limited supply, and are disappearing fast!

Within the first few hours, only a handful remained at Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson in Thiensville.

"Hold them up during parades, put them on your front lawn - thank all the people from all over the world, actually, that are coming.  Show we appreciate them!" Berlin said.

The signs are helping to attract customers like Russ Cederholm.

"Just get it signed by Willie G. and it will be a good collector`s item," Cederholm said.

The "welcome signs" are also being given away at the Harley-Davidson Museum.
