Suspended Milw. podiatrist cuts deal with State Podiatry Board

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee podiatrist John Lanham hasn't spoken publicly since his license was temporarily suspended in July -- but privately doctor has been cutting a deal with the State Podiatry Board.

In a stipulated agreement approved on Friday, August 23rd, Dr. Lanham agreed to a one-year suspension along with other conditions such as taking courses in medical ethics and professionalism.

When Lanham's license is reinstated, he will be required to post a notice for patients to see, in advance, listing the total cost of his ten most common practices.

An earlier investigation by FOX6 found Dr. Lanham billing upwards of $10,000 per visit and misleading patients about insurance coverage.

According to the recent order, Dr. Lanham will now be required to tell patients that he is not an in-network provider for any insurance company. He will also be required to report once a week to a professional mentor who will look over his work.

Although this is the second time Lanham has been suspended for irregular billing practices, his license could be reinstated in as little as six months if he complies with the agreement.
