Five shooting incidents in Milwaukee Monday into Tuesday

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating four separate shooting incidents that occurred late Monday night, August 26th and into Tuesday morning, August 27th.

Police say a 19-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and killed in the 2700 block of W. Burleigh just before midnight.

A 17-year-old boy was also shot during the incident, and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man, who police say was illegally carrying a handgun near where the shooting took place was arrested.

Police continue to investigate whether this suspect had any involvement in the homicide.

Police say a 55-year-old Milwaukee County Transit driver was shot in the leg with a pellet from an air gun as she drove underneath a railroad bridge just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

It happened in the 300 block of W. Capitol Drive.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No one is in custody.

Police say a 20-year-old Milwaukee man was shot on the street around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of S. 13th Street.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say he is not cooperating with the investigation.

Police say a 22-year-old Milwaukee man was shot outside an apartment just before 3:00 a.m. Tuesday in the 5200 block of N. Teutonia.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation and there are no suspects in custody.

These latest shootings come after three teenagers were shot Monday evening.

It happened near the intersection of 26th and Orchard around 6:30 p.m.

Police say three teens were shot: a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

FOX6 News has learned the preliminary information MPD is getting about this incident is that it started with a game of pickup basketball, during which an argument apparently ensued.

Police believe someone at the scene called friends to come help settle the dispute, and that’s when the shooting occurred.

Police say they have identified, and are seeking a suspect in this case.
